Camera accessory specialist Vocas has unveiled new accessories for Sony&s flagship Venice camera, which we recently had field test here on slashCAM.
Top plate for Venice.
The Top plate for Venice has an integrated leveling mark that can be used to adjust the horizon of the camera. The many industry standard 3/8" and 1/4" threaded holes provide numerous options for attaching accessories to the top plate ( including ARRI Lockpin mounts).
Additionally, additional 15mm or 19mm rails can be added to the Venice setup with the optional Vocas 3/8" to 15mm bracket (0600-0140) or Vocas 3/8" to 19mm bracket (0600-0145).
When the top plate is equipped with a Vocas 15mm rail holder (0350-2010), a viewfinder or lens motor, for example, can be attached.
With the top plate, the original Sony handle and viewfinder mount can be used.
Side plate for Venice 2
With many industry-standard 3/8" and 1/4" threaded holes (including ARRI lockpin mounts), this plate fits on the assistant side of the camera.
When attached, it provides many additional options for attaching accessories such as audio and video transmitters to the side of the camera.
The Vocas USBP-15 MKII, which has been available for some time, is a 15mm universal shoulder baseplate that can be used to convert the Venice into a shoulder camera. The baseplate is height-adjustable and equipped with a quick-release system for quickly finding the optimal balance.
In our Venive 2 test on slashCAM, we also used the Vocas USBP-15 MKII and got along very well with it. For corresponding system weights, however, we recommend replacing the supplied shoulder pad with the Vocas Soft shoulder pad (0350-2320), which works without tools thanks to its integrated magnet system.
(Vocas also offers the USBP-15 MKII including the soft shoulder pad, item number: 0350-2200-0).
