Audio specialist Deity has announced the PR-4, a compact 4-input/6-track field recorder designed for professional productions. The PR-4 offers two XLR inputs (with phantom power, line, AES3, and AES42) as well as a stereo 3.5 mm TRS input (1/8") for two additional channels. This allows, for example, a boom microphone and two wireless lavaliers to be operated simultaneously. A total of six tracks are recorded: four isolated individual tracks plus a stereo mix track. At the heart of the device is Deity&s new ReGain preamp technology, which provides up to 60 dB of gain. According to Deity, this allows the PR-4 to use demanding dynamic microphones without an external preamplifier. Recording is performed in 32-bit float using dual-ADC microphone preamps, which is intended to help avoid any clipping. Additionally, limiters can be activated in 32-bit mode, combining a 24-bit production workflow with 32-bit files in post-production—practical for all users who want to work with familiar level control on set. VoiceAware Automix and LiveHit DeNoiserTwo real-time functions are designed to improve speech intelligibility: The VoiceAware Automix dynamically manages multiple microphones, prioritizes active speakers, and reduces inactive channels without measurable latency. The LiveHit DeNoiser filters out ambient noise such as wind, traffic, and room rumble, and is specifically designed for live reporting in uncontrolled environments.  Deity PR-4 Dual Media SecurityRecordings can be written simultaneously to an SD card (up to 1 TB) and the internal 64 GB SSD. Different signals can be routed to the respective media. Files are saved automatically every 15 seconds (Auto Save). World Premiere: Wireless (Proprietary) Timecode MasterDeity describes the PR-4 as the world&s first recorder that natively synchronizes timecode boxes and slates wirelessly. Via the proprietary wireless timecode protocol, the PR-4 acts as a TC master for the entire Deity ecosystem (TC-1, TC-SL1, DBTX, DXTX, DLTX, as well as other PR-4 and PR-2 units). Additionally, a 3.5 mm timecode I/O is available for wired SMPTE LTC/ATC. The target accuracy is less than one frame per 48 hours. Control and remote monitoring are handled via the Sidus Audio app for smartphones and tablets. Mechanics, Mounting, and Power SupplyThe top and bottom of the PR-4 feature dual Arri-style 1/4″-20 threads with locating pins, which prevent twisting in camera cages. The optional cage accessory integrates an ORTF microphone layout for quick stereo ambisonics setups.  Deity PR-4 Three options are available for power: NP-F compatible batteries (runtime over 8 hours), direct USB-C operation, and an external Hirose power supply with 12–16 V. Important: A battery is not included and must be ordered separately—Deity offers a suitable NP-F battery.
