Four times faster than USB 3The new card reader addresses a classic problem in modern production pipelines: anyone working with video material like ProRes RAW or high frame rates, or who has simply been shooting for a long time, knows the waiting time involved in transferring large amounts of data from the camera to the computer via a card reader. By using USB4, with transfer rates up to four times higher than previous USB generations, this time is significantly reduced. Thanks to USB4, the reader is now reportedly fast enough to be used directly as an external drive, allowing footage to be edited directly from the card reader without having to copy it first. The Atomos USB4 CFexpress card reader is not intended solely for Atomos users—it supports all CFexpress Type B cards, making it universally applicable for camera systems from a wide variety of manufacturers.
