With the H6studio, Japanese audio specialist Zoom introduces a new model in its portable recorder series, which is specifically aimed at professional applications in audio and video production with a variety of technical innovations. It features large-diaphragm condenser microphones in an XY configuration, four studio-quality preamps, and supports recording in 32-bit float or classic 24-bit. ![]() Zoom H6studio Handy Recorder A central feature of the new H6studio is the use of large-diaphragm condenser microphones in an X/Y configuration with 19.4 mm capsules for recordings with high directivity and a linear frequency response up to 140 dB SPL. The design avoids phase cancellations and enables a clean stereo image. The built-in preamps come from Zoom&s professional F-series and achieve an extremely low self-noise of -127 dBu EIN. In combination with a dual A/D converter system, the recorder enables a dynamic range of up to 132 dB. ![]() Zoom H6studio Handy Recorder Flexible Recording Modes and Format SwitchingOne of the professional features is the support for 32-bit float recordings at sample rates up to 192 kHz. This technology allows you to record losslessly even at extreme peak levels without clipping. At the same time, the H6studio offers a dedicated switch for switching to classic 24-bit or 16-bit modes - including physical gain controls for direct signal optimization. This makes the device suitable for users who work in post-processing as well as for those who rely on a direct, broadcast-ready recording. Expandability and Capsule System 3.0The H6studio is compatible with the new Mic-Capsule-System 3.0, which offers a wireless option in addition to standard microphone attachments. The optional (zoomcorp.com/de/de/zubeh%C3%B6r/mikrofone--kapseln-kopfh%C3%B6rer-fu%C3%9Fschalter-und-pedale/wlm-1-wireless-lavalier-mic-capsule/ WLM-1 wireless system), which will be released in 2026, enables the use of two wireless microphone channels with high fidelity (up to 130 dB SPL). ![]() Zoom H6studio Handy Recorder Display Recording and Monitoring on up to Eight TracksOverall, the Zoom H6studio allows simultaneous recording on up to eight tracks (six mono inputs plus a stereo mix). The inputs include four XLR/TRS combo jacks with +48 V phantom power and a 3.5 mm stereo jack with plug-in power. A colored 2-inch LCD as well as a headphone output and an internal speaker are available for monitoring and level control. Digital Connection and Interface FunctionalityThe H6studio can also be operated as a 6-in/2-out USB audio interface, compatible with Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. In this mode, it supports both 32-bit float and classic 16/24-bit recordings. In parallel with the interface use, a backup can also be recorded on a microSD card. ![]() Zoom H6studio Handy Recorder Interfaces Remote Control and Synchronization via AppThe new "ZOOM Handy Control & Sync" app allows the recorder to be controlled wirelessly, including recording start/stop and timecode synchronization. The prerequisite is the use of an optionally available timecode adapter (TCA-1 or BTA-1). This facilitates integration into more complex camera and multi-track setups, for example in documentary films or when shooting with multiple recorders. The H6studio is powered by four AA batteries or via USB, with runtimes of up to 15 hours depending on the operating mode. ![]() Zoom H6studio Handy Recorder Technical Specifications of the H6studio at a Glance- Microphones: XY stereo microphones, 19.4 mm, max.
