iPhone 16 rumors: larger image sensor - and a capture button for video?

As we all know, the new iPhone 16 generation is expected in the fall. It looks as though this could bring some new features aimed at those who want to use the smartphone for video recording.

According to Apple analysts, the iPhone 16 models will not have any major design changes on the outside, but will be equipped with a new, special control button. There has been speculation about this new control element for some time, but it was initially unclear what its role would be - it now seems to have emerged that it is designed for video applications. Considering how stingy Apple is with physical control buttons, this would be a sensation, as well as an indication of the importance Apple attaches to video on the iPhone.

The touch and pressure-sensitive element will allow you to zoom in and out (even during recording, like a zoom rocker) and focus, while a firm press will start video recording. The button should be positioned at the bottom right-hand side, making it easy to reach even when shooting in classic landscape format.

Although the latter are not commonplace in smartphone filming, they are preferable for recording spatial videos for viewing in Apple&s new Vision Pro mixed reality headset, for example (in contrast to portrait videos). A relatively recent rumor on the Chinese Weibo service claims that the image sensor used in the main camera of the iPhone 16 Max will be slightly larger.
