I have the 2007/2008 version Pros. The advantage s.der latest version is primarily the one DVD menus with background video or Intros can equip. And of course the full HDV support. I can only recommend

Given the differences between "normal" and "plus" states. You have not written, do exactly what you want or need.
The differences to the previous version of 2007 are not very large. At Ebay you can get the 2007 yet ...

and would like to use for the amateur film editing, with nice effects and transitions and music, etc. provide.
These "masterpieces" then burn to DVD, and as a backup to Cam play back.

hm, it strikes me now is not easy, because you a definitive advice, but generally I think (synonymous in my own experience) that with the simple version (without the "pros") already is well served. The differences are even some fairly complex things synonymous and the normal version provides so many games, so that you as a beginner usually has everything what you need / want (or can use).
Moreover, the Magix versions already in 6-month rhythm appear. If you like the program, you can do so if necessary sometime later "upgrade", so expensive, it is not.

is like everywhere in Windows: The Highlight of the second (third, etc.) object, hold down CTRL, and then remains what has been so marked and the new marker will appear in addition to already existing.

I have no idea what you are wrong. I've tested this several times and no problems so ... I do not know if it is not perhaps any special cases where several objects for whatever reason always synonymous mark can not be shared.
If the problem ever since? Maybe you try it again by typing just two small clips quite simple in the timeline set side by side and try them together to highlight.
Much more than I have at the moment, a non-synonymous.
