Infoseite // 45 min. 750 MB MPEG file compressed or next? nevertheless good quality?

Frage von Heffer:

Hello, first let me'm new here, got me through the net and various forums struggled to find an answer.
After long deliberation, I've registered myself here, in the hope that it teaches me something else, synonymous when it is again only a commonplace question.

So, I cut with a regular pc with a TV series, several episodes of which I will ultimately burn to a DVD.

I guess on the whole with InterVideo WinDVR 3rd
Khz as MPEG 2, Sound 48, 192 kbit / sec, all together Picture and sound nearly 2400 kbit / sec. Resolution 480x576.
This would min of the 45th Film so great at the 750 Mb.
The quality is so far out of order. With fast camera pans or fast motion in the picture may have slightly verpixeln times what.
Using MPEG Tools in TMPGEnc-Merge and Cut I cut out the advertising.
If I have 6 episodes together I commute to by DVD Lab Pro to the entire DVD.

The extent of my approach.

But now what I would like to know, but I have taken elsewhere, the films were synonymous.
These are also something like 700 Mb big, but at least twice as long as my 45 minutes series.
The picture quality is damn good, no pixels, no problems, clean TV image.
Now I ask myself, where the trick is, or what I still do wrong, that is twice as long movie looks better and is no longer synonymous space taken away?

Is it possible to create these 45 min series with a lot less than 750 Mb to in good quality?
When I next edit the file through TMPGEnc and the next bit rate reduces, the picture so quickly under all sow.
Do I need a different approach, I do something wrong, or it is not as technically feasible?

Have a Pentium 4, 1024 Mb Ram, and a built-in TV tuner on the board, I let that run through the composite input.

It was so good looking, which is on DVD?
It is likely that a different codec was used. DivX and MPEG4 codecs that are newer and more powerful give better image quality with less memory consumption.
For DVD player this size are not always legible. If your DVD player can read DivX and / or MPEG4, it would be an alternative. If not, then the MPEG2 compression is better for you.

Antwort von Heffer:

No, what that looks so good is just a perfectly ordinary 700 Mb Cd, with a movie on it with the extension mpg.
So almost nothing but if I do a film to record as MPG, only mine is about twice as large, with lower quality.

And since I'd like to know how I can improve my shots then.

Yes, the Divx and Xvid are better, I know, but as I said, I convert everything to the end of DVD data, but to have the initial data is indeed available as Mpeg, of. Avi can not even make DVD data ... ?

Antwort von Vitrend:

Of course you can make avi files from DVD data. That is what one usually does in editing programs.
The extension *. mpg does not say what the MPEG format. I assume that it is because of the MPEG4 means good quality. MPEG4 can play only a very few DVD players. So you think you will all have to stay if you want to burn to DVD in MPEG2. It is of course synonymous convert MPEG4 to MPEG2, then the quality is possibly worse than if you jump, as you probably already do it now, are capturing in MPEG2.

Antwort von Heffer:

Well, you could add it as a DivX, and then convert it to MPEG, if it helps?
I do not know if it brings something, but I hope so, you can help me on the jumps.

MPEG4 is still, as far as I know, Xvid and Xvid has indeed again the ending. Avi, one would have to convert DVD authoring So synonymous only once into MPEG.

Or moment, maybe I'll go the whole of on the wrong page.
Is it possible for DVD files from a. Avi convert file?
Because, as I said, the program that I use, you need mpg files as a starting material ...
But really does not matter so much so synonymous, because there is so little good-quality MPEG files, since one must get there somehow ...

Both are as synonymous AVI MPG so-called container formats. The content consists of video in both cases - and / or audio data, but on the compression or the codec that nothing says. DivX / XviD files to both the extension. Carry the suffix mpg avi as synonymous..
