Hi Folks,

I would have been a recent owner of an ABC Handyman Steadyam with monitor and use these with a Canon 7D. Perhaps you have the decisive evidence. My camera weighs 1371g complete. In the user manual is that the trim weight should have approximately 30% of camera weight. In the 1371g would thus about 411g. In another article, I'll leave that trimming weight should be about as heavy as the camera. Therefore, first question:

1. Offices of major terms and conditions as it is this 30%?

I know that the cause of course all a matter of practice, but perhaps someone has important tips for me when using a (Canon 7D or 5D) SLR camera and the best positioning and choice of trim weights.

ABC leads naturally trim weights and fortifications in the range of accessories, if I knew how much the cost and where can I refer, of course I would buy more as synonymous, unless you mean, I can manage myself synonymous.

The Camera-weight must be by a combination of position and Height repeal of the counterweight below the Handyman joint. Sure, you will say, stupid would I have guessed. It should be necessary only in extreme cases, to use a greater or lesser weight as the other variable can change the position as fast and flexible (see red Picture below). Especially the Handyman can easily offset by the lower tubes than the traditional cane steadies. If the relative vertical 7D built by Optics somewhat top-heavy, must in any case below also show a counterweight rather forward. Sample images with the Canon XL, which are very very top heavy:

Wenige, next ausholende Pendelbewegungen: Gewicht for this position enough. Short, many wobbler: Gegegewicht too high. If you really need a different weight, it tinker yourself, from aluminum tubes, with the crumpled paper and as coins and fill with endcaps shut you (cost-digit euro area).

All physics is the fifth class, predict with more.
The Steadicam is simply a vertical lever.
You have a top weight (which is exactly known) and then the distances above and below the Kardangelenkts (where you choose below the distance a little longer than the above). So you can then trim the weight and experiment can work out in about it.
L1 = L2 x m1 x m2. when this formula is true in some, the masses above and below the equilibrium and the turning point are stable.

That with the 30% is total nonsense.
I have used synonymous with me for several hours and calculates the weight and then moved, etc. .. Just try. Gibts enough youtube videos

NEN above you can leverage on the joint of perhaps 4-6cm (center cam) and down 30-40cm loose Now you ausrechen you just about the proportion that the Trimmegewicht may perhaps be one tenth of the camera .....
