Infoseite // Archive xdcam program for ex-files?

Frage von gammanagel:

Hello,

There is a database program, with the super-intelligent, I can manage the files of the PMW-EX-1, both online and offline synonymous?
Slowly, the archiving confused by folder structure.
The Photo Database ThumbsPlus can not create thumbnails of the XDCAM ex files, otherwise it would be sufficient.

What do you use it?

Hi,

I save as follows:

Name of the project
Name of the day / scene / what always synonymous
BPAV folder

Then I can draufschauen with the ClipBrowser. And, of course, adding meta-tags in ClipBrowser, then I can find.

Hello Lutz,
this is certainly a much better method, because I can not find a plausible program management.
Problem from my point of view (; I archive everything and always think I'm filming it) must hold at least 100 years.
I back up on a 2nd hard drive and on DVD, BlueRay soon.
Even a terabyte disk is full time and then it will soon be confusing, so a program would be good, at least the offline thumbnails, metadata, etc. displays. Then click on the File and the call is put an xyz plate.
With ScLive it went well for DV, for pros thumbs photos and AVCHD is good, but nothing's for XDCAM EX

I know the problem. Medium term, I'll build me a server.

Ifs that helps you, then I lead times from our Work-/Archiveflow:

We have different types of cameras in use, so there are HDV, AVCHD -, XDCAM EX and XDCAM 422-material. The folder structure of the raw material is irrelevant, because we simply import the clip files. Thus multi-camera footage will be together again, must match date and time in the cameras or are set correctly on import. We opted for UTC to avoid a summer time.

All clips from one project to land in the same folder whose name is formed out of date and title. Among them are then for each camera and each medium subfolders. This is necessary because, for example AVCHD cameras in each new medium, the file names designate the same again.

We do not throw away all the clips used about 2-3 months after the cut. This was purely pragmatic reasons, simply because a lot of garbage is there.

Antwort von Marco:

Lutz, since you have Vegas Pro available, you could alternatively synonymous use the integrated media manager. There, create its own library, which are exclusively assigned to folders with EX-video files.

There are photo archives from my experience with several approaches:

Firstly, a purely File-based archiving with file structures where the information (; date, what will be packed for take) to the Takes in the file or Ordnernahmen.

Advantages: Inexpensive, Except storage medium, no additional technical requirements,
Disadvantage: No Visual inspection is archival logic often personal, (; that of the white leads the archive where anything is, third reindenken have the problem in this logic must be on), little research options fail when searching for file names etc. s.Abkürzung

Secondly, there are of course the possibility of a server / Database-based solution to create. Original mpg is s.einem central location, a database to manage the information.

Advantage: Materials can be searched, using the appropriate software flv - Preview available - direct visual control, a central location can be safely administered (; Raid), material can be sorted by subject, etc., rapid availability, lower search costs, when material can proper planning will be made available to third parties as with Cost Opensoure solvable

Disadvantage: Costs are synonymous to the use of open source software, the cost of servers and RAID storage on more than a cheap external hard disks (, or) no external optical media requires more discipline (; and thus Manpower) at Entering the data into the archive.

The erstmal to

Greetings and happy work, Markus
