Frage von danielo007:

I have an older Sony DV camcorder (DCR PC7E) and a Toshiba notebook with 4-pin Firewire IEE 1394th

I would like to live during the recording, the picture appears on the laptop. Is that with a firewire cable?
Or I can dub a video signal via firewire and only the video image must then be transformed with a capture program?
The notebook has unfortunately no SVHS input.

The case should go there: Can I extend a 4.50 m cable then to 8 meters?

Thanks for the help

Hi Daniel,
So the with the recording using the laptop should work, if he brings the power and ensure you have a suitable capture program.
For the 4.50 m cable, it might still work, but Firewire is synonymous with 8m s.end. You can do it just once synonymous to test myself, but it will most likely develop a lot of drop-outs or errors in the video.
There are Converter which the DV siganl two ethernet cables and distribute it again to join s.end Firewire. These seem to be over 20 meters, but cost a lot of money these devices. Oh well, after 20 minutes break from your capture program, or it simply creates a new file and records the next.

So my view would have to go after that. If I understand correctly that you want to use the laptop as a monitor, but still record onto DV tape?
Normally you will get turned on when the camcorder is connected via Firewire, and a video signal purely zb. (in recording mode of capture) program. I think it should come in once synonymous with one when you are capturing the camcorder on the tape.
Also you do not need you so worried about image of making mistakes, if the laptop is intended only as a monitor. So the extension to go the firewire cable in order.

With the free program WinDV

you can definitely see a preview image on the monitor. Whether the size of the picture can be adjusted, I know at the moment does not. The nifty thing is that you can even capture images of the camera directly to the notebook hard drive. Assuming that your system is fast enough and sufficient capacity. And you could have spared so synonymous, the head drum of the camcorder. But that was not really the issue.

Many many thanks for your prompt assistance!

Right, I want to use the notebook as a monitor replacement. And indeed, in order to precisely position a light source to be equal, and thereby see how it looks from the direction of camera.

From your answers, I read out that the image size is probably not adjustable. Well - I actually thought s.Vollbild. But I suspect that this will not be transferred 1:1.

In any case, I'll get me a Firewire cable to get to the hard drive to DVs. The only question is whether I go into a 4.50 m Cable (investing would be unnecessary if I could get just a small preview picture - that is, the structure for controlling the illumination is not suitable).

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new area (video on hard drive and DVD).

Greetings from Berlin

Hi Daniel,

Perhaps this is a good solution for you: Today I had to capture something from a tape on your PC and have this opportunity once again the functions of Windv scrutinized. You can enlarge the Windv window. It is synonymous the video preview window mitvergrößert auto. In this way you can get a video image on the monitor that it approximately 3 / 5 fill.
