Greetings Patrick I'm including the HV30, am still impressed of the balanced picture, wanted to sell it several times and they keep it.
Disadvantages: noise and then stop the recording on tape

I can only connect Ralf Hankel, my HV 20, I would not give me synonymous. Another thing is certain, however, whether current is really recommended another HV 40 where a Panasonic SD 707 now can be had cheaper. Eg if you have the camera with a longer going to do recordings of performances (theater, concert), I rate of from the Canon HV. With no short-term interruptions works HDV recording usually not. 1-3 per 60 min-tape are my experiences. If your PC and your editing program are AVCHD compliant, better take an SD 707th
