Infoseite // Capture hardware for control with its own program searched

Frage von Kasabu:

Hello,

for a computer science engineer-thesis I'm looking for a way of an analog video source (or Scart SVHS) to create a MPEG2 video. When searching the web I came across this forum and hope that due to some unread posts help.
The problem is that the used hardware to be controlled using a separate program to be developed end start (record /, position and size of the video image on the monitor, etc.). What hardware offers the listed options, and more importantly, where can I find information on how the appropriate hardware can be controlled.
How can you possibly see from the question I am in the area of video and computer novice (a pure programmer), so the links would be general information to the described problem synonymous offer very helpful.
I am grateful to have time in advance.

Greeting

Frank

Caveat: Platform for which the Project is intended?

On Windows you can in principle of the DirectShow libraries or go the older Video for Windows library. For both, there is the source examples and instructions.

Today most modern hardware drivers for DirectShow libraries. S.sich With the hardware you will hardly what to do, the skills, etc., are deposited in the drivers polled and "taxes" in the strict sense do not you do the hardware, but the DirectShow-processing chain.

You will need the DirectX SDK of Micro $ oft (> 200 MB) and / or derived for entering the program Graphedit. 2-3 Books Relating to synonymous there.

Online is all I have to recommend this article to Reinschnuppern:

Here is in example 2, the "BeCapture device" a piece of the drivers actually used the hardware that is already finished MPEG2 spits.

Otherwise: the real-time MPEG2 encoding by the program is demanding for the calculator. Or do you think s.einen hardware MPEG2 encoder?

In this case, I would specifically look for sellers of cards, where both drivers as above, or even an SDK for it is available. Perhaps

Thank you for the informative answer, so I have taken a big next step. The platform is being developed, in fact, Windows, under the C + + Builder.
The hardware is able to deliver directly to Mpeg2 videos, as the line encoding probably not only the hardware requirements, but is beyond the scope of the project would be synonymous.
I've been working with DirectX for a while, but only in the output should be, so do not be too difficult synonymous.
Thank you again,

Frank also does not (the thinnest)
