Comparison HMC-151 vs. SD-707

Frage von eisbaer71:
November 2010

Hi,

I'm looking for a long time for a successor for my XM2.

Now, relating to, for which I would appreciate your assessment:

Actually, I was sure in a device from the semi-professional class
invest, ie HMC-151 HMC-41 AX2000 and are on the shortlist
Rotation, whereas the HMC-151 would be the favorite.

A consumer model was never an issue until now. Until I look at the SD-707
have yet again taken a closer look and realize I had to
at least with the material, which can be found on the net, is the
Difference in the attainable image quality can already be seen, but
justifies the huge price difference SD-707 -> not HMC-151
really. The image quality of the 707 is surprisingly good, which to me now
Brooding has brought.
Sure, I know the HMC-151 significantly improved handling, CCD has instead of CMOS,
is much better in the hand, but is synonymous bigger, but is it really worth the extra cost?

Thus, here the specific questions: Is it worth from your point of view the investment in
an HMC-151 focused on the following applications:

- Professional Shooting of events, weddings, concerts, fireworks. Most of it is
more in LowLight located enriches. If the HMC-151 SD-707 really
clearly superior? The 707 seems synonymous here to make a pretty good figure ...

- Little or no scenic tasks, DOF is still an issue and for which a
or other setting desirable occasionally times. Bring the HMC-151 with their
1 / 3 sensors in Comparison to the SD-707 with 1 / 4 sensors in a practice
relevant advantage?

- In addition to the above objects have typical Familien-/Holiday Film
Scenarios.

- Focus on image quality performance is LowLight, uncomplicated
Handling and good sound (yes I know the fan problem the 707 ;-))

Thanks & best regards,
Markus

I would advise you to clear the 151er or to one of Sony's in the price range.
Apart from the focus these cameras are in all respects, superior to the currently synonymous of situations you need, the 707er.
These small Consumercams are the measurement technology knackscharf what is going but at the expense of other image parameters such as contrast ratio, color reproduction and low light capability.
I myself own a SonyFX 1 and a Panasonic SD 300, back in a few generations older cams. However, I believe I can make the above statement.
The little Panasonic cams are not bad for amateur filmmakers and certainly synonymous in handling may practical. But only if you do not want to attract attention as times Sun As soon as you want but leave the automatic mode and make challenging shots, which might partly synonymous with the 707er succeed, but to get there quickly s.die limits of such an amateur product. You have to cumbersome fumbling through menus or specific parameters that have been previously set, go with a different setting back to its default settings back and you have to muddle through again until you finally have the right attitude. The big cams have s.Gehäuse many manual intervention via direct access keys, often have XLR connections s.Bord, usually better (or at all) viewfinder.
So I think that the higher price is justified carefully, if you want to deliver superior results when only the right to self-synonymous
I personally will buy, according to the current state of affairs, no more camera, which has less than 1/3-inch chip size.

I would recommend to 151er synonymous here. The reasons were of Frank B. yes already mentioned.

It is important to deal with the 151er intense, so before we get into practice. The default settings are rather sub-optimal. The 151er is a proven thing, you can get other users of massive tips. There is a huge wealth of experience that is accessible to the man.

The equivalent Sony, of course, synonymous worth a look.

Here is a simple sequence of some clips from the weekend without any artistic or technical achievement.
The clips will show you why I like this cam, this lens, this presentment so good.
Beyond pixel shift (for me totally unnecessary) "discussions" to Full HD and.
That even my paws with all controls easily manage to get the handling to follow when intus, of works, all alone, all of the fun factor is increased many times over.
The pan has blown it again Vimeo times ...
Without any grading, sharpening etc.

Wonderful, I like the "Panasonic-Picture". Sharpness and a wonderful natural color representation. Fantastic. Such a color representation without edge steepening synonymous provide the Sony's customer since 2010.

The 151er's just a great unit and almost always a recommendation.

lol - I was once synonymous thought that Jim's are identical. Then there would be such that it in two very contrasting characters and even shows up here and we totally processed ... t has. That's what I think frankly not true. Jörg train station will not help ease.

@ Joerg

Thanks for the link and the impressive images. I have the Cam imaginary ussynonymous on my wish list. Get me this wish, but not likely to meet. On top is able to get a GH2 - which is financially hard enough.
