Frage von Gerold111:

Hello!

I'm doing a lot of DV editing s.PC and use Pinnacle Studio 11 ultimate and movies with a SonyHC1. Imports will only HDV material.

Here are my system data:

Intel E6750 Dual Core
Motherboard P5k-E Wifi / AP
XFX 8800gt graphics card
4GB DDR2 RAM 1066 MHz

Until now I had four older SATA hard drive with 7200 rpm and 8MB cache. This all I would like to expand ...

As a replacement I have now twice the same hard drive purchased:
750GB Samsung HD753LJ SpinPoint F1 32MB SATA II

I want both Windows XP, install Vista as synonymous.

How should I send it to proceed?
Should I create a new partition disks for the operating systems and then the other for video data.
Or should I have one of the old slower hard disks for the operating systems use? I would not, of course, that work by slowing ...

Power may be a composite RAID0 sense?

Questions about questions ... info about me very happy!

Thanks and regards, Gerold

2 of the older boards with a system and program partition as a RAID 1 (mirroring), the two new disks as Raid 0 (stripping) for video only.

Remember that in Raid 0 failure of a hard drive in the loss of all data of both panels for defects. So in Raid 0 is always nice secure.

If the four panels are functioning properly (that is synonymous not too slow), you could the biggest / fastest hard disks for this system and install the program, and to the two new video - and project data. The total should not be slower than your current hardware compilation.

System / Programs and Video, I would not be on the same hard drive save (not synonymous in different partitions), because otherwise interfere with the other requests. This in turn would possibly ausbremsen your work.

A RAID 0 makes sense only if the data rates of your hard disks are not sufficient to make video editing. But this is not the case. Instead, the data significantly reduced, since the failure of one disk all the data is unusable, so synonymous that portion on the other (working) hard drive.

In short: let Raid-0, which you need now (for this application!) No more.

I have ordered the hard disks, so that my system run faster. In various tests, the SpinPoint plates of Samsung to be very fast and well tested.

If I have one or two of the old plates as a system partition to use, then gives me the speed advantage of the new boards but nothing right?

I want the best workflow and I can reach my hardware ...

So, a new 750 for the current to edit HDV files, the second for the files to Zwischenrendern, finished disc images and older HDV files.

And the two operating systems on one or two plates of the old ... ?

That convinced me yet so ...

Or I build the old plates completely off when you slow down the system ...?

Thanks for the quick answers so far! [/ Quote]

What is so difficult to understand the systems and programs to include a plate, and the videos on the new fast?

And it recommended that the system records to reflect, because records have been broken and can go the video boards to strip. Stripping accelerates video editing, because the hard disks are not as fast as the S-ATA interface. Review once in your manual to see if your motherboard RAID 0 for the S-ATA interface. For the occasional backup Get a 500 GB hard drive with USB 2, which is p. 80 ¬.
