are have the following problem: In fact, I try a couple of days my DV tapes to my computer to digitize. My PC recognizes my cam shows but when I capture with no preference Picture s.no Sofware what I try! Strange, I just think it's that the timeline but it runs neither sound nor picture is digitized!
Here are the facts: I use the editing program Sony Vegas 9 pro, my cam is the Canon XL2, digitize or do I try it with an ordinary firewire cable ... hope you understand my problem and can help me solve this because I am under some time pressure because it is a tall order ....!?

What was in the Instructions to Vegas over the capturing? Ah yes, with digital video (DV) is nothing to digitize, since the present data digitally on the tape! ;)

I guess it is synonymous to a driver problem, but windows tells me if I want to update the device that it would be up to date. But now from the device manufacturer, a new update downloaded and installed, after the Pc did not respond to the Cam, or could not be determined! (Quasi worse than before)
I think probably again some crappy update of Vista sparks between them .... It is essential to switch to mac and got so sick of windows!
Make a system restore times now, just look at what follows after that!

1.) Is the firewire port of the camera OK? (Try with another PC) 2.) The cable is get broken (different cable, no need teuersein) 3.) The Firewierport the PC is broken (PC s.anderen verify signature yourself) 4.) Do you have driver problems s.dem PC at the time new drivers / components are installed or Windows updates done?

Must you not. Make a second system partition and DV editing with only doing one, everything else with the other. The video partition remains after a successful installation as it is! Ideally, create another image. No updates (synonymous not the smallest) unnecessarily (for example, wg. New hardware), no internet access!

So folks, erstmal thanks for the many posts and now my current status ... Point 1 and 2, I can definitely rule! For I have tried once with a friend the whole, since it works perfectly! That leaves only 3 and 4 Unfortunately I have no other Pc s.dem more can I try the Firewire port, but Vista shows me synonymous in the device manager s.das the device is working properly ..... (but Windows, for that I now do not tell me more ...)
I guess the real me an update of Vista disturbs! But what ... Achso and System Restore does not work, of course, would probably have to get my calculator once completely flat and take one step after another .... which of course means serious fun!
So here then out my Basic information of the Pc's:
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit (SP 2 is not yet installed) AMD Athlon X2 2 x 2.6 GHz 2 GB DDR RAM GeForce 8600 GT overclocked (but that is probably no preference) The Firewire port is, I think of NEC ...
