Hi am new here and wanted to find out times and the difference is when I record with an XH-A1 HD and now wants to digitize the material. What is the difference when I do this by working IEEE 1394 or SDI.

Digitize you need nothing at all, which is already digitally on the tape. The transfer via FireWire is a 1:1 Rüberschaufeln of bits without any change. Therefore, the interface is there.
The detour via SDI would be in favor of complete nonsense. That only makes sense if you want to record LIVE bypassing the compressed tape recording (HDV).
