Infoseite // Firewire port?

Frage von Gollung:

Please do not laugh! I am an absolute beginner in this area and wanted to just ask, quite humbly as I can tell if my PC has a Firewire port? I am looking for hours and still have no answer to this stupid (I know! Found) question. Maybe someone can help me? I work with Windows XP.

Thank you and please do not stone!

Hello,

Alternatively, you can retrieve the following synonymous in Win XP: Start> Control Panel> System> Hardware> Device Manager. If your PC one (or more) Firewire port (s) has listed in the list, one IEEE1394Bus host controller.

The Firewire interface is called s.Computer (usually as IEEE1394 correct name). For camcorders, you can find for the same interface names such as iLink and DV. They come in 4-pin and 6-pin versions.

Thanks for the quick info, you are top! Now I'm a lot smarter. My PC has such a connection does not, so it means tinkering (or better to tinker?). Is it difficult, to install a firewire card? And there are still problems with the SP2 of XP? I have on my PC.

Thanks for the links, which has saved me much time. I would not really do without the SP2. There is another good option as Firewire to get my videos to your PC?

Clear-cut case: No.. Firewire is a digital interface for easy transfer of video - and audio data between different devices.

Another digital interface in the consumer sector would only USB 2.0. And this is no real alternative, because the data rate may not be sufficiently stable and must be the video - and audio data on top of "packed" (so-called USB-Tunneling) method. The latter will cost computing power and to make matters worse, each bringing their own device drivers with ...
