Good question - search as synonymous.
Winamp AVS is pretty good - unfortunately there is no video export function. The known grabber plugins run rather badly as fairly, Screen Capture is only partially useful. Event. TV-output to DV Capture - but I find that somehow synonymous the wrong approach. Problem is also that Winamp makes everything real and therefore large Resolutions of PAL seldom run smooth.
About AE etc. you probably will not get out ...
