Can I use with my Final Cut HD-only material and then cut in PAL format? If yes, how? And what problems are caused possibly? (eg, distorted picture, etc.?)

If you are with "Pal" a standard DVD meinst: No, there are no problems. In HD cut, render, then export with Compressor, "Current Settings": "Mpeg2 for DVD" and (empfohlen.) "DolbyDigital 2.0. Aspect ratio, etc. will be auto scaled.
