Gain -3db

Gain-3db

Frage von Bastian_040:
August 2010

Hey everyone!

I have (possibly) a very meticulous question.
Not that I am wrong, I would not know what that means gain (hehe). My question is what exactly does the EX-1 actually at-3db Gain?
One would think that but no gain at 0db signal amplification takes place. So what makes for the Cam-3db?
What are the advantages and disadvantages with this are (up to the fact that the picture is darker ... lol)

Thank u regards!

Antwort von deti:

0dB is only one reference point of the set Sonywillkürlich for this model range. Therefore one could synonymous-6dB to offer choice and move the 0dB reference point to go there, where was previously the +3 dB value ;-)

I would always recommend to stay at-3dB, if the picture is underexposed, for here is the noise s.geringsten.

So with other words reinforced the camera still electronical, although it is at 0db?

Antwort von deti:

Every signal coming from the image sensor out, must be strengthened forever. Where to sit down because the 0dB point is merely a question of whether there are noise and image brightness in a meaningful relationship.

Antwort von Frank B.:

Why then will use any negative values and not by numbers of 0 to x?

Antwort von WoWu:

The whole issue is quite feeble, as synonymous, the values for the Noise "Sound and Smoke" and are not even agree if the S / N values, as should be "zero vote" and, above all, of what? yes a db dimensionsfreier value and is always related to a predefined value. But if the "floating"?
In the new H.264 implementations no variance based algorithms are more on the application but rather those that are geared more s.der human perception. This means that moving images in a lower signal to noise ratio shall have, as in static parts. So where is the reference point for the signal to noise ratio.

So the question is absolutely justified and each Manufacturer refers to as what he wants and so are all the so-called "tests" for all 0 db noise and smoke, because the value is different in each camera.
For the tester just not who is zahlengläubig and says, with 0 db at each camera to the identical point on the curve catch processing. Is not so.
