Infoseite // HD editing on the Mac and external hard disks

Frage von KlausZ:

Hello,
my disk storage is slow and I have just upgraded accordingly. I have 3 external (IDE) hard disks and unused to wonder whether I use them for my video projects can use. I film with an XH-A1 at 1080i, the Postpro done under a iMAC 2x2, 4GHz with 2GB RAM.
Question: it is recommended that an external USB enclosure for IDE drives and to buy them for the HD-cut would be better to use the same or a Firewire enclosure? The skin at all with the performance go?
What are your experiences / recommendations?
Merci! Klaus.

Antwort von Axel:

Firewire. If a capture-Render and Master Volume. Whether it is USB, I can not tell you. I would not risk it.

Antwort von KlausZ:

Is FW400 or FW800 it must be the same?

Antwort von Axel:

Well, at a rate of 25 Mbit / s FW400 goes loose. How it looks with ProResHQ, I do not know, but you have a 800 port, so why end s.falschen save?

Antwort von KlausZ:

Hm .. I am working with ProRes predominantly :-|
But with the IDE drives would be no problem of the data?
Gruss Klaus.
