Hi All,
I have a VHS / DVD Recorder's HDMI output I want to join s.meinen laptop, but has no HDMI port.
My laptop has:
S-Video [(7-poles believe) is only one output]
VGA [(15 pins) no idea whether input or output]
2 free PCI slots
USB
Is it somehow possible, the data from the recorder and its HDMI connection to get on my laptop?

So, over HDMI it is difficult and very expensive especially feasible. In this case - because only source Pal - one way or nonsense.
It is best simply a USB capture card:
USB Video Grabber at Amazon So via analogue cable.

Look back if he has a SVHS output (similar to a mouse or keyboard s.PC / laptop) or 3 Chinchausgänge (yellow, white & red)?
If not ... Do you still need this:

SVHS he did not, but that these colored RCA (Component / Progressive Scan Video Out Y Pb Pr)
And for audio
Audio out (l / r) chinch
and
Coaxial (Digital Audio Out jack)
ie, the audio and video USB Grabber is exactly what I needed.

Thus, I will digitize ancient VHS video from the family and the entire extended family can be happy watching the video shared when our chiefs called Grandma and Grandpa and Co. from Russia suddenly flicker on moving images on the flat screen TV ;-)
