I have a few questions regarding the application of the histogram. The basic function is known to me ... the histogram information on the correct exposure and the proportion of light and dark areas. But what the Histogram is what the Zebra and the reasonably trained eye can not? How to apply it to correct what the advantage is with respect to or in combination with the zebra? What additional information it provides? If the advantage was mainly in the studio where you can affect the amount sufficient to see at light-dark objects to a uniform exposure - reach (> and histogram curve)? Or does what `s Outdoor synonymous, eg report, run + gun - situations?

Hi on the road. The histograms are you already in the recording reveals something about the extent you have in the post, the picture elements still under control because a dark-heavy Picture allows less processing than a picture, the exposure units in the bright shades content. it can be faster and lossless generate a usable picture. The zebra can be seen rather as an additional means, because it shows you only the clip area, but you do not specify the distribution of values among them. The histogram is you actually tells you what can be done afterwards in the post yet. Normally, yes we assessed the Picture to the monitor. Whose reproduction is highly questionable, it depends on the ambient light, whether the sun shines on it or not and of course, synonymous to the "adjustment" of their own eye ... the pupil is closed or not. This all leads to a rather subjective impression Picture. The histogram is an objective account. Strictly speaking, there is more information and reliable information about the picture as the monitor and the first law more as zebra, for a picture to be set perfectly for histogram, zebra without addressing at all. For example, a screen image look good in a dark subject on the monitor, but would after Histogr. tolerate more light. So you increase the exposure, it seems cruel on the monitor, but in the post is achieved by slight correction, a well drawn and noise-free picture, if you move in a safe box reinforcement. Thank you for your as always very detailed and comprehensive information! How the H. "reads" correctly, what is the optimal H.. Perhaps you have sample photos, screenshots? What are the optimal values, where the limits as the optimal distribution of the curve in relation to the amplitude height? sloping curve at both ends, I presume? The SD707 has a yes-H display, I would like to deal with it in the near future and thus figure out what I can to get it for me.

Histograms are always determined by the subject. therefore there is no "prime examples" such as a characteristic. Therefore you have to deal with the H. einwenig can, what you will but do not drop some serious, because it is easy to understand. That would be an issue for Lutz, recycle it. If time is short we must, we have a rule of thumb for all possible three cases: Bright subject (such as with much of the sky) = pressure on the auto exposure and then a manual Aperture down. Dark subject (eg in a forest inside) = Automatic exposure and then a brighter Aperture. Backlight design: to shine sensible and then you make synonymous the time, according to the histogram. If one has the time not avoid, =. Otherwise one can forget the histogram and the Picture usually synonymous anyway. Aperture, because the shutter is rarely use in video, but possessing a similar effect.
There are also such a thing as optimal values are not really, because the H. Yes, the contrast distribution in the Picture shows. This is of course dependent on the motive.
