Infoseite // How do I get the best quality when digitizing of Hi8 VHS to Mac?

Frage von videolo:

Hi,

over the holidays I wanted to use the time and play my 20 year old analog Hi8 of the Blaupunkt CC875 with elgato on SVHS video capture on the Mac. That was synonymous easy. I am, however, due to various forum posts is not sure whether the quality of the pictures would turn out better. The files are now considered. Mp4 before.

My decision to elgato (640x480) I had (and the seller at the grave accent) in the fact that SVHS only represent about 530 lines per row and the Resolutionmit 640 is optimal. Apparently (the seller) would other A / D converter with higher resolution achieved no better result. On the contrary, artifacts would be reinforced oversized.

Now I've read a lot of articles here in the forums and included many technical information that I have understood, but not all, I am not a Picture / sound engineer.

Clear question: with what other A / D converter can I use for Hi8 to Mac get a better result than with the elgato video capture (640x480)?

Thank you in advance for a clear answer ;-)

Greetings

Wonderful nonsense. The best way would be: get Hi8 camcorder and capture the tapes via FireWire.

The expected with a Hi8 unit may become very difficult. You mean Digital 8 camcorder ...

Yep, of course, digital-8!

Yes, the blue dot is a Hi8 camcorder. Analog. No DV tapes, but Hi8 Super VHS. He has no FireWire. Only S-Video / Video and audio outputs.

This is already clear, but the tip of D8 Jott has the following background: Most Digital8 camcorder could play Hi8 tapes, digitize and on their internal Firewire output as a DV-AVI transferred to the computer. This is the result much better than when your shots - are forced into 640x480 MPEG-4 - as now.

Thanks for the tip. Then I make myself look at the search for a matching device on eBay.

Hi8 and Super VHS (S-VHS)'re competing systems. This held only briefly.

@ Videolo: You've obviously Hi8.

But not all and has videolo over to read it.

But Bernd, is it ever a good idea, now on ebay or where synonymous always looking for a Digital-8 device? As he gets despite theoretical playability of perhaps a Hi8 abgenudeltes device (how can you check the synonymous before purchase), the tracking is adjusted, etc.
He has a working camcorder, which he knows.

An external A / D converter (of course the Canopusgeräte) would be for him better. Which, for example, -110 would be cheaper ADVC possibly no more expensive than a cheap new, used Digital8 camera, or he borrows one of these devices hier.

Und seien wir doch wieder - and wieder - and wieder ;-) einmal so großzügig and geben diese Links next:

That, where appropriate, Mark, s.besten with the familiar tools, we can then yes run next, if videolo asks specifically, or digitize himself does not want. ;-)

What do you think videolo? :-)
