my AVI / DVD Converter offers the possibility to burn ISO files. Of course since I came into the trim ... what is an ISO File?
Wikipedia and Googling does not give me the answer to my simple question: What can I practice with an ISO file to start? Is the file somehow particularly relevant?

ISO files are used primarily for data CDs / DVDs, an entire disk with a file transfer.

And the question why something is used:
openSuse Linux, for example, you can legally as an ISO file download and Co. using Nero or CD / DVD burn. It is simply practical.
