The D725 is an ordinary MiniDV camcorder with Firewire output - since I do not know why iMovie or another editing program so that any problems could have. Where did you read that the "difficult" to be?

Perhaps had those difficulties which a lower firewire cable have? Or even one of these
nicht-funktionierenden USB -Firewire-Adapters?
