Infoseite // Like the best of FX7 HDV in FCE capture?

Frage von ars2000:

Hello in the round,

I use Final Cut Express 4 and a SonyHDR-FX7 camcorder. Unfortunately, FCE synonymous in version 4 is still not the FX7 in the Device Control. So I can not put ins and outs when capturing.
Strangely works in iMovie08.

My question now is what the best workflow capture result promises.

Currently, I capture with DVHSCap from the Apple Firewire SDK of the stream and then convert with MPEG Streamclip and the Apple Intermediate Codec.

Disadvantage: enormous time
Advantage: I have the native stream to the archive

Which places do I like in the MPEG-Streamclip settings screws to optimally set the quality, or are the targets already optimal?

The alternative I see is in capturing the iMovie08 and the subsequent export into FCE.

Advantage: time saving
Drawback: a big question mark

I lose picture quality on the detour via iMovie?
If the motion on DVHSCap MPEG Streamclip and the Better?
Or do I have to bite the sour apple and directly into FCE capture (but without control devices) to get optimal results?

I know with the FCS would be probably easier, but I am currently looking for a way out the best in the existing investment.

Danke schon mal für eure opinion.

I did it for HDV are not yet tried. There is a simple method to test. Compares require a direct recording with gecaptureten clip with an in FCE FCE from iMovie recalculated at 200% size in terms of artifacts, etc. (both clips with QT Player eg parallel and open spaces with out-and herschalten).
In the case of DV had iMovie for Final Cut Pro synonymous always be recalculated. The rendering went so fast that if all the new sound could be calculated. Fast rendering would be an indication that the picture remains unchanged.
