to monitor the traffic and the driver, I would like to run along a video recording in the car.
The trips take at least 8 hours, a cassette change should be avoided. Reducing the frame rate of eg, 2-5 frames / sec is no problem. Also s / w would be sufficient. Unfortunately I can not find a camcorder that has this functionality.
Triggering the camera via an external signal might be possible, but manages to be a regular camcorder to make 5 pictures per second and save? If so, how do I control the camera?
The solution via webcam and laptop in the car fails, because the image quality is sufficient.
If someone affordable idea (max 1000 EUR) has, I would be grateful.

Hello Andrew,
I do not know whether these devices fall within your target price range, a more (analog or digital) video recorder from the long-term monitoring of the area to make the recording.
Alternatively, you might get a DV camcorder via Firewire with a notebook computer, connect and capture the data on hard drive. Even with 120 GB of space would be 8 hours recording possible.
In both cases, a DV camcorder, that is, in the first case satisfies even an analog device for image generation.
One way to 8 hours on a single MiniDV tape squeezing it, I do not know.

For Apple, there are iStopMotion, which you can freely adjust the image recording frequency. Is to work synonymous with special Digicams, but I am myself s.recherchieren which digicam to trigger off the computer and can be synonymous constructional suitable for Stop Motion. By default, the program is running, but with Digi-camcorders.
For the PC, there is certainly something comparable. Only a camcorder solution, I do not know. Although I once did something like this with my camcorder. There was a senseless function 'Stillimage record on tape', which could be triggered by remote control. Then I pressed for a whole evening every 15 seconds on the trigger, creating a Stillimage-Stillimage was recorded about 7 seconds on tape. In the editing program I then cut each of the hundreds of recordings on a frame. The result was impressive, but the method does not. Very Handmade.

I believe that all the camcorders that I had hitherto dominated interval recording ..
My VX-1000 can, at least, a small Sony Consumercam I had before, it was synonymous.
This feature is therefore not definitely divided sooo rare (at least not at Sonycams ...)
