Infoseite // Lossless intersect with DV codec?

Frage von derron:

Hello,

After I was here very helpful, as far as hardware issues, I'd like to ask a new question, which I myself have not covered:

I capture a video (S-VHS) using S-Video IN my TV card using the DV codec. (Alternatively, I capture with Canopus ADVCxxx also to a DV - AVI video stream. The result (ie the created AVI file) is still - apart of the picture quality - the same!?)

Since my Pinnacle Studio 9 suite of handling her like so much, I would like to make the video cut to encode the VOBs but rather on an assignment Proggy (eg Canopus Express).
Now I would like to know what to do with the cut material.
- Save all back to Studio 9 (DV -) AVI? Emergence as a loss? Or you can cut a DV-AVI and encode lossless together again?
Or should I capture with Huffyuff cut, and then to encode the VOBs?

Would I look over answer (s)!

Greetings
Derron

Do not you see differences between the original recordings and the exported movie? - Then it finally comes to ... ;-)

That is a codec issue. And the Pinnacle Studio software to my knowledge, still uses the Microsoft DV codec back, which is rather lousy, and unfortunately, the brightness of space 0. .255 on 16. .235 limits. In super-white range is so image information is lost, unfortunately. For transitions with strong brightness jumps can be seen by certain visual effects. Whether one is important, everyone must decide for themselves.

Holger here has the "classic article" written on the Canopus difference here at such times slashcam. DV codecs that do not show this restriction in the brightness range, the Canopus DV, the Matrox DV and the Vegas internal Sony DV codec.

We had countless discussions synonymous with super white super black in the video meeting point - with the variety of test possibilities.

And here we see even pictures, which reflect the difference very well:

You can use the circumstances of detective work to find out later, when the now intensely interested.

One way to accomplish this is to compare the DV Datecode (Record time and date) of the exported DV video with a date code of the original DV video.

The date code is stored s.bestimmten positions of the compressed single image (frame) and if the editing software, the frames are not touched, the date code is not changed.

This method is not 100% sure.

I know of a program that always destroys the Datecode synonymous when you have edited anything in the video. Others work normally: AP (6 and 6.5) the zero Datecode only in edited fields (transitions, etc.).

And some do not seem to involve Datecode camcorder in the DV frames. For material of such a camcorder you should first create an IT reference material with identifiable Datecode.

Another method is the original video and the edited video with "difference" superpose. If the videos are the same in the decoded picture that emerges with an exciting ;-) completely neutral-video (or black or white) Picture.

Good luck
The fat Stefan

First of thanks for your - once again - and many informative answers!

@ Stefan: Your ideas are so echt genial! Only Hapert it because I am still an absolute novice, s.dessen implementation. But the next is not bad. I am just about to test AP Pros 7 .. (and I should come so clearly, is synonymous bought .. I hope da gibts student licenses ..)
At the moment, but I have still some problems but I try erstmal itself, will (get a handle on here so do not annoy too much, or spamming the forum ..;)
Okay, maybe one has: AP I have no codecs (only one). I hope that I have to install the new, not all, so I'm AP showing the Choice?

@ Wolfgang: Is this really still relevant? I have read that it would no longer agree with the MS-DV codec (But I'm still newbie will not much experience. If you care, this time a LINK I think that says Markus synonymous, so that one must personally be satisfied with the resultative and the codec or encoding double synonymous matter of personal taste is.

Okay, so the evening and the night is still young and I will try next .. in the hope that I can dub my VHS tapes with it the best configs in one go .. (incidentally, now with support for Canopus ADVC300 ..:)

Greetings ..

The MS-DV codec was next developed in None manner as regards the issue of limiting the scope brightness. The theme is still topical.

It has described what Holger
http://www.slashcam.de/artikel/Basics/Der_Canopus_-_Unterschied.html

So is unchanged.

Therefore, synonymous in recent times, the appropriate tests and examined in the video meeting.

And not for nothing has integrated Adobe Premiere Pro now finally the MainConcept DV codec. Whether one's now bothers everyone judge for themselves. Facts and figures demonstrate the difference to the MS-DV codec, which is now whether we like it or not.
