Dear All,
I'm still fairly new to the camcorder and video editing area, so forgive my possibly subtle question.
Back to the film "fun" I got myself the Kodak Zi8, but these increases in MOV format (H.264 and AAC stereo) on.
With my PC, I can present the original mov files but not edit it difficult in Premiere or After Effects, so I wanted to ask which is the easiest way to convert these files?
Furthermore, I am not even sure what format s.wenigsten quality loss brings (Is it MPEG2)?
In addition, I have read that there are intermediate codecs (Canopus), which make so to speak, the MOV format editable. Unfortunately, the MOV file not in the open Canopus Edius Trial version.
Is there still a plan other freeware program for me?
I have already read some threads, but I could not find exact answers.

I have downloaded the XMediaRecode.
But when I select MPEG2 as the format, I can only make videos with a size of 720x576? However, I would like to retain the original format.
What format lends itself for s.besten already MPEG2?
