Infoseite // MPG Import into onw Movies

Frage von Charly Brown:

Hi All,

I am trying since 4 weeks parts of a (good quality) film,
DVD available to me in my own Holiday Movie
. hineinzuschneiden For that I am-synonymous to the study of these forums as -
follows proceed:

1) Copy the vob files of the (unprotected) DVD drive to hard.
2) Rename the files to MPG
3) With video, I redo the scenes that need to meet in -
taken to a new handy file. (Up here should not
Degradation have occurred.)
4) Convert the MPG file in DV-AVI. To this end, I have the
4 I tested the available codes:
- Matrox (free codec)
- Panasonic (free codec)
- Microsoft (free codec)
- MainConcept (trial version).
5) Edit the files into Premiere and create a
new AVI file.
6) issue of the AVI file to a DVD.

Unfortunately I am not entirely happy with the outcome.
Is the case quiet, not much moving images, the
Quality good. MainConcept stands out here in terms of
SOMETHING quality of the other codecs. At Microsoft
I see on a flight through the clouds, strange strip
effects, such as when the color depth of an image greatly reduced.

It is horrible but all codecs
s.Bei restless as pictures (darkest shots in a
Cave). For still images (the beach with the sky, etc.)
contribute the images but neat.
b) When moving pictures. Here arise 'stuttering' and
unsightly fraying.
These problems arise only when the Fremdszenen. My
own scenes on the same disc are also excellent.

Somehow I come now not next. Apparently
is the brave new digital world, which supposedly so
lossless not working so no loss. Perhaps I can
helping someone or has tried the same thing
and achieved a good quality? I would be synonymous prepared me
To buy MainConcet codec but does seem not synonymous
the quantum leap to bring s.Qualität.

Antwort von Peter S.:

All codecs are MPEG-verlustehaftet and not compress frame-based, but each only keyframes and the changes in the last picture. Therefore, the cutting of such material is difficult to achieve. The conversion to a different codec also produces quality loss. Are you after ripping intercutting, and render a new file, the parameters chosen by the original file? Why do not importierst each Mpeg snippets directly in your editing program?

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your help!

"All of MPEG codecs are verlustehaftet and not compress frame-based, but each only keyframes and the changes in the last picture. That is why the cutting of such materials are difficult to achieve."

Exactly. And that's why I've converted MPG to DV-AVI. Prefer
I had the "MPG snippets" processed directly with Premiere, but
Premiere has thus obvious problems, because even in the preview
Skip images when playing back often short. When it here
for example, a plug-in there with which one could leave it, I would be synonymous
prefer to work with them, because they would save by a transformation.

"The conversion to a different codec also produces quality loss. Have you Zusammenschneiden after ripping, and render a new file, the parameters chosen by the original file?"

I think so. But I am in 2 score not so sure:

1) Halbbilderdarstellung. Perhaps there is DV-AVI, which the
Lower and others, represent the top first? This could
we explain some of the problems.
2) The color depth. In the head of my AVI file is a color depth of
32 bit. In the video track 1, a color depth of 24 is entered.

"Why do not importierst each Mpeg snippets directly in your editing program?"

As mentioned above, I would make the s.liebsten. But that seems
do not work on Premiere?

This information will help in any way next?

Thanks, Charly
