Infoseite // MSP7 multiple video codecs in a project possible?

Frage von Gömic:

Good evening, dear forum participants,

I have several hard drive to self-created videos, some in the format "AVT", partly in the format "mpg" as synonymous already burned to DVD. Now I would like several of these films create cutouts to make a new film about the "evolution" of a friend to produce.
Can I use in a Project in MSP7 AVI and mpg (MPEG2 PAL DVD) and at the same time and mix after creating without loss of quality in MPEG2 finish?
Or is it better to use the AVI movies before inserting them into my project to convert to MPEG?

I hope you can help me competently. Thank you.

Antwort von tommyb:

You can easily various codecs and container mix - but it is synonymous of the dependent on your system installed codecs.

If you later cut your Project exportierst will probably ALL recalculated and compressed in MPEG2.

Thank you, how can I see which codecs on my PC installed, and what are the containers?

In principle you can do this by typing (for Windows XP) on

Work (right click) -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Audio - Video - and game controllers -> Video Codecs

go. This on the one hand. On the other hand, you can see if the AVI file for your required codec is installed by simply trying the file in Windows Media player.

If refuses, then you can use with the program Gspot find out what codec the file uses.

What containers are well described here:
