For me it works, but it was synonymous, the *. mpg file extension appended.
If I remove the extension, WMP plays it does not.
So: File.m2t.mpg
Then it should go.
VLC plays the files with me ebefalls without any problems.
PS Beware of semi on my part;)

In order for the WMP plays, is as synonymous for ffdshow. If the entry below for MPEG2 codecs on libav (or something similar) has been set ffdshow to decode the files and you have a Picture.
