Infoseite // Masked / HDTV Playback with unclear HG21?

Frage von bszetdd99:

I had my Canon HG21 today for the first time via HDMI cable connected s.eine Full HD TV and view pictures. It occurred to me that all the dailies have a mask. It seems as if there are 2 levels, which masks fixed in the foreground and the recording in the background. These renderings look simply clear out although I really crystal clear TV (pictures, photos are also affected) would have expected of this model. Comparison images of a digital camera are perfectly clean.

I would be interested if this has already been observed. I think this obscure TV playback is not normal.
Could this be synonymous with s.Einstellungsfehler shooting?

Thanks and greetings

... to claim that bszetdd99 says the normal H.264 artifacts along with the usual sensor noise. Presumably he was 10cm from the screen, as noticed him ;-)

Deti But what if you please to be "normal h.264 artifacts" and how to distinguish, for example, of MPEG2 artifacts??

Antwort von deti:

Somehow I had the presumption that a vague formulation in conjunction with H.264 calls you on the scene ;-)

What I said, probably propose to the compression of the quantizer to sensor noise, which could lead, together with the deblocking filter such mask-like effects.

@ WoWu: Do you have a better explanation?

Antwort von WoWu:

Without having seen the picture, I dare not diagnose .. neither to noise, because of little light there was nothing (in the original posting; dailies) and in normal light CMOS roars no more than (CCD, quite the contrary, in the blue channel even slightly less, depending on the noise-), or to other artifacts, and much I know that the HG21 uses when playing no de-blocking filter.
I was only interested in what it should be for H.264 typical artifacts ... because neither noise nor De-blocking is H.264 typical. De-blocking filter, there are synonymous for MPEG2 ...

I would say, typically, in this case for this camcorder. Because sometimes gives the impression that moving images static zones with a fixed "noise patterns have". The effect is stronger under low light. It may be synonymous, so that the synonymous comes from the sensor out. Overall, this behavior works for me at least, not disturbing.

There are indeed a few "typical" effects, the (; mostly in streaming) with the long GOP and its dissolution have to do, but the camcorder is currently using only 4 I-frames per GoP and should not have these problems. What is currently unclear, however, is the interference of TV sets un image processing and the fact, as intermediate generated .... This is still a surprise that will give us a few surprises ...
