Frage von Funkfeuer:

Hello,

I would like the Netgear EVA8000 http://www.netgear.de/Produkte/Multimedia/EVA8000/datenblatt.html

- Microsoft ® Windows ® XP or Vista

500 MHz, 128 MB RAM and 20 MB of disk space on
at least one PC

I do not understand? For what do I need a PC. As a repository? But if I can access via LAN, it is absolutely no preference, which has an operating system? And if I have an external USB hard drive dranhänge, then yes, the synonymous work - without the operating system ..?

Can I perhaps someone explain?

Looks as if it were a "passive" media client, that is, most (Processor)-work the included Media Center software on your PC, it transcodes your movies in the format that the Media Center can display chip and then sends them s.das Center, which it only needs to decode and display, which means but synonymous, that your PC always s.sein, if you use the Center and powerful enough to be around all the movies.

As LAN: This allows you to test yourself if you have a second PC: simply look like (even) soon your Ethernet cable data transfer - the required broad band is not too large, since the videos are already compressed transferred - as you see, extends the Media Center so synonymous have a wireless connection - if your Powerline LAN not totally collapses when other devices are turned on, should not be a problem.

Thank you for your reply.
From the point of view - that a PC has always run - I have not yet seen (well, that I asked :-)!

This presents me with a certain problem:
I have neither a PC on which Windows is running (to work with Linux), or a PC of this system requirements ...

On the Netgearseite is the following:

Quote: Immediate access to USB devices

Connect your USB flash drive, your digital camera to your iPod or other USB storage devices directly s.den Digital Entertainer HD s.and access of your HDTV directly from your digital media.

But that means but that it is synonymous with no PC should go - or does it mean only that those USB s.PC must be connected and thus - indirectly - for the EVA8000 are available ..?

Sorry, you must correct me, I've now moved on to the PDFs compatriots: sometimes sounds as if the PC software only there to release folder (then the question is whether the SMB by using synonymous Linux would go) and as if the Media Center in a position to even synonymous usb video clip - I was confused with the system requirements, because only in a passive client of the PC really is a necessary (and not just optional) requirement.

Thank you, that you are in the description by've seen :-))

I do believe that the work would have on smb.
We have a heterogeneous network - so that Windows / Linux-Calculator together in our home network are (brother and father have Windows Calculator).
From out of history, we use the MSHOME as a common network. Under Linux, I can record on the network easily accessible.
Because the EVA8000 only the network disk access to these and has no operating system, there should be no problem, right?

However, if the transmission over LAN too long, then I can s.den yes EVA8000 synonymous via an external USB disk hinhängen, right?
That makes it - Geschwindigkeitsmässig - no problems, right?

Sure, this is the fastest. But important is probably just that it is fast enough, so while playing the transmission speed is constant - the box gets the video not only plays it over and then (and in favor of a few MB / s) to this end they have the garnicht space - especially in HD) s.sondern makes the constant piece by piece
