Hello Slashcam,

we had a few months ago an interesting thread times where our beloved MiniDV cassettes probably come from:

Mini DV

The world is only 2 firms aim to make the production, I could not quite believe it.

Now I am sometimes the Gang of values investigated, BASF, since 1997 no more cassette build! Emtec had followed the lead, the
EMTEC Magnetics GmbH & EMTEC Consumer Media GmbH in 2003 but went bankrupt and was of the French chain MBO over 2004, since 2006 Emtec is in the hands of Dexxon Group

Dexxon group.

Such a fluctuating Company would be unable lasting about 50% of the world produced cassettes built, at certain times there were only about 100 employees (Disks, tapes of all kinds synonymous Music)

The EANs MiniDV cassettes of the various execute a

Yes, I think it's like in the automotive industry, so synonymous VW gets the parts of the suppliers from the area of Wolfsburg, Hanover, and Brunswick, for example, from the Czech Republic.

The other brands will not be otherwise. Maybe the factory is a plastic cassette ago, another film chemistry.

Mich had just wondered - I have "access" to the industry - all the big companies have a MiniDV cassettes big mystery, where the tapes come from times now. This suggests a common foreign manufacturing suspect.

There was already synonymous 2003 times the thread because of the ME and MP tapes, but not quite so synonymous voted:

There were times years ago (maybe there is still?) A MiniDV tape (of Panasonic?), An MP-coating had. All others were at that time, ME types.

As for the Hi8 problem, because now I have some experience can collect. Straight-ME-Hi8 tapes behave at times critical and can only with a well-conditioned Recorder and more cleanly pass play.

So now I'll have the conversation with the company again sought and obtained some evidence - I hope the company's employees have given me any false statements made.

Sony & Panasonic present their self-produced tapes, Pana headquarters in Osaka. Sonyhat partially different locations in the world, höherklassige Master & HDV tapes, however, synonymous in Japan will be produced.

The 2 major companies still produce itself, TDK is partly synonymous even the tapes produced.

When the rest of the company should have to act OEM companies.

This is possibly synonymous but not so long, the MiniDV & HDV market shrinks yes unfortunately.

The company's employees (Sony & Panasonic - but no film staff) with whom I have spoken to know more amateur stock, ie the maximum DVCAM (which wanted the Pana man obviously does not know) & Master and DV tapes.

Normally, use the right professionals, none of the above tapes, but is relatively professional, I know as synonymous people who earn their money and so DVCAM, or master the simple use MiniDV tapes, large companies & institutions work more with the lower category.

No idea how it is in professional stock like with Digibetacam, MPEG IMX, HDCAM / SR etc looks like.

Only on the premiums of Sony.

Panasonic provides the cassette below the level of their own Fes (lower class), Panasonic AY DVM Fes are more likely compared with the SonyExcelence in order linear plus - Sony Premium is only on the standard normal linear structure.

Naja is a saying synonymous against his toughest rivals.

For professional bands, there are really only Sonyand Fujifilm.
The Fujifilm are usually a little cheaper, but we are talking of 1-2 in a Euro Digibeta - tape.
If an interested, the tape s.sich is exactly the same.
especially as it is in DVCAM - bands of the "two" at Manufacturer. The same cassette case, with exactly the same areas for the "Pickerl". The only difference: Sony Is s.einen above Fujifilm s.anderen.
I will be lodging at a stop image post ...

What I notice is that for me on the basis of the band XDCAM consumption really has extreeeem restricted ...

About the outward and Her of MiniDV tapes is already much has been written. Ultimately MiniDV is not broadcast but rather a product of the consumer camp. It would probably synonymous every amateur world no longer understand when he suddenly EUR 17 for a 30-minute tape (DigiBeta) should output. But, with exactly the 1/2-Inch-Bändern MiniDV sure you can not compare synonymous.
The normal mortal Media Markt consumer has no choice anyway.
Interestingly two observations seem to me to be:
1. I recently fell back some-BetaSP tapes in their hands, which I of 1992 with good 537er + PVV1 was recorded. The shots were perfectly okay, and now after 15 years in the archive. I do not know how in 15 years MiniDV tapes behave with which today was recorded.
2. It is always of cameramen to hear the supposedly Sony tapes have the inclination, video heads "dichtzuschmieren" (keyword: metal-particle tapes bedampfte as opposed to metal particle-coated tapes). It was a phenomenon, but which already existed BetaSP times and therefore many of Fuji / Maxel had.
I guess this is probably every man for himself and must find in doubt when the symptoms "dichtgeschmierter heads" just use other tapes.
