Have a Panasonic NV GS27 and would like to use firewire Win2000.
The Firewire card is detected but not the camera. Supposedly it should work with Win2K. S.2 have different computers with 2 different cards and different firewire cables tested. The analog output of the Camera is sucks. Picture This is in contrast to the visual display turbid and dark. Hoped that the better quality via firewire should be. Panasonic reports on inquiries simply not true.
Camera is almost new. The Auto Focus is pretty lame and the Night mode is not to use because it requires no end jerky. As the CAM test winner could be I do not know.

Since Christmas, I'm the proud owner of a EC-GS27 camcorder. During this week, I have repeatedly tried the video on my laptop (windows XP SP2) to transfer. Unfortunately, this has not worked until today. I have a Firewire connection installed, but I can not transfer the video. The program (Windows Movie Maker) has the camcorder but synonymous recognized as such and the "connection" established. The GS27 I do not know personally, but generally meets an USB port on MiniDV camcorders two functions: to transfer of photos, which recorded on a memory card or a video stream of low quality when using the camcorder as a webcam. If you have recorded on video tape for editing on the PC want to bring, you will come with USB usually not far away. There are then Firewire, and so far you have done everything right.
