So I would grasp the Sony. Clearly fans of the Pana will always find something to criticize. It is true that even synonymous of two cameras does not perfect (what is now). But I think the idea is good, now is already filming in HDV and to not be forced to be able to further process only HDV (yes you can continue working with SD).

We ought now to think of it as synonymous beginners. On the other hand, one should remain synonymous in moderation, in the event that shooting then it does not bring the desired fun.

We in the club, the Sony and the Pana Group.
For Community films (both companies), we have consistently used in the problem of having to make color adjustments - the Panas are "colorful".
Complication:
Color gain / Color correction footage at Sony are more difficult (not all) s.The adapt Pana colors. So we adjust the Pana s.The Sonyan (color reduction / light changes to blue).

Otherwise, the Pana offer 400 (or the little sister, 250) certainly synonymous very good quality for much less Euros.

It is up to you alone whether you want to actually work with HDV, or if you did scale down to SD.
With the background that you want to shoot the next generation, I would advise you to HDV. I think that in such a venture is indeed not just about the whole (immediately) on the LCD, plasma, etc. to see.
