hi I need the possibility to be "en route" to cut. unfortunately has my asus notebook (1.6 GHz, 1 GB Ram) had no firewire port. What can I do now to do this retrofit?
is the possibility that with such a card:

PCMCIA cards are pretty hot .....
Wenns of http://www.canopus.com/?lang=DE a USB 2 "hub" with Firewire, then you should perhaps prefer such a solution.

After my times a FW port weggeraucht, I afterwards with a wonderfully Cardbus adapter to work.
I have USB2 with my concerns, but now would like to tell no nonsense ... who knows better from there?

... did with USB2 as my concern ... Whether a capture works with USB 2.0, depends on whether the camcorder offers this possibility. Most, however, use instead of the required USB 2.0 HighSpeed only the slower Full Speed version. A look into the Manual provides that provides clarity.

So is there anything but synonymous of Pinnacle, or?

Which operating system do you have? If Vista, make sure sure that the card slot synonymous is suitable for Vista. I have painful experience: the first card was to Xp suitable functioned not prompt under Vista. The DeLOCK ExpressCard / 43, which I have now, works flawlessly.

Hello,
I have s.meinem Notebook (synonymous XP and PCMCIA) a noname PCMCIA Firewire 400 card (to be recognized as: O2Micro OZ711MX / NEC OHCI compliant) with this and so far no problems.
I use it as a port for my external 19 "sound card and transferred successfully live about 16 tracks in 32bit/96kHz. As to the amount of data of speed and probably a simple video + sound transmissions synonymous work (as I know but not like this). That this is very hot, has not noticed me yet.
However, I had with a noname PCI Firewire card synonymous ever unlucky, because they constantly Dropouts in Audiosinal generated. How was this, I do not know anymore.
