Infoseite // Problem: Media Manager DV> ProRes Aspect

Frage von ruderboot:

Moin,

I have a project in DV NTSC 4:3, had finished it and cut it to final production will bring to ProRes.
The original material is gekascht to 16:9.
In Media Manager I admit: "transcode media with: Apple ProRes (HQ) NTSC 48 kHz".
I have made sure that I choose not anamorphic format.
The clips are created although it is still 4-3, but have a double Kasch and the picture content is compressed.

At what step is wrong?

I remember that when capturing the clips were shown as anamorphic. Before I cut it in the master clips in the browser, the anamorph-tick away and everything went well.
Final Cut has yet noticed somewhere that the clips were compressed read?

The only solution that I know so far is to recode everything in ProRes PAL Anamorphic "and then pull apart again afterwards. But it can not be true? ...

Media Recode? With evidence BW mask? Material already cut?

Behind the intention of your workflow, I can not quite. Both the mask as the aspect ratio can be synonymous with an edited Compressor preset adjust at will, see attachment.

I did not seem clearly expressed:

The original material is rotated with the Kasch. That means it is available with black bars. It is not subsequently masked. 4:3 letterbox.

When I transcode on the MM in 4:3 ProRes, added bars as if to squeeze my Originalmatriel rotated. But is not it.
Therefore, a double Kasch and the material produced is compressed.

No unusual workflow where ...

Some DV cameras recorded ultimately in letterbox, but almost all the Picture then scaled to anamorphic DV. The threads of this are 5 years plus. Or have you actually used a physical mask? Surely not. Which Camera?

Videospec (free) shows you incorruptible, which is flagged with Pixel-AR your footage.

The material was rotated with several DVX 100 models.
The IR camera can record in full, squeeze or letterbox. It was done the latter. Ie the bars are part of the 4:3 image.
Nevertheless FinalCut has recognized the material as a squeeze-material (anamorph). The anamorph-check but I have subsequently removed! The entire workflow is then held in 4:3.

The question is why the media manager thinks I would be working with anamorphic material.

Antwort von Axel:

In any case, nothing is lost, since all these Flaggs are always irreversible, at least in the export, by arbitrarily renaming. I do not want to be argumentative, but the fact that the footage capturing the anamorphic ran in the preview window shows that even your check wegmachen was arbitrary. That you just have to make the export again now. The tests with a small clip and multiple compressor settings. May be no big deal.
