Hello, yesterday finally have a Firewire card and ext. hard drive so that I Vids from the camcorder (Canon mv 600) can edit.
The problem is:
Card and hard drive to work. As soon as I connect the cam, which, incidentally, not even recognized, in Device Manager is an error in "drives" and then something with "1394" (that is, I think, this is the hard drive)!
When Cam is doing is synonymous nix ('ve set on video ...).
If I get the cable to unplug the cam (not good, right? Lol), there is a message: 'Write to the *** could not be carried out' or something like that .. So what now?

If I interpret the above correctly, you have the disk connected via firewire synonymous. Experimental times the disk via USB (of course only if you have USB 2) whether it is running better.
