Infoseite // Problems with RGB 16th .. 235 and changed colors

Frage von GhostDog:

Hello,

I have the following problem: I have some old VHS recordings digitized and she wants to bring to DVD. When I edit one of the shots but in a video editing, changing their colors. There is no preference which video editing, I suppose. I've tried VirtualDub and Premiere. The problem occurs when the video needs to be re-encoded, for example when I use a video filter and applying any settings undertake. There are, however, affect only certain parts of the picture, apparently those whose RGB values exceed 235. This becomes synonymous with white wallpaper or T-shirts. These are slightly pink in the original (bad white balance!) And then yellow. The same "effect" achieved if I in an image editing the gamma curve settings for x> 235 -> x = 235 If I do not, however, applying video filters, changed the picture does not. Then it is synonymous in the DVD perfectly fine and without color. Unfortunately, the shots need to be reworked, and with the resulting change in the whole looks not nice.
Does anybody advice?

Greeting
Simon

PS: I have time to "Hello World made" test. I am able to premiere the "World" show on TV, re synonymous for re-encoding,-import ...

Hello Simon,

Video recordings are not in RGB-, sondern im YUV - or YCbCr color space RGB-, sondern im
At what moment do you have digitized the VHS recordings? With an ordinary A / D converter, a video card, or only with a TV card?

In what format you've saved the recordings? DV-AVI, AVI (codec?) Or only MPEG2?

Antwort von GhostDog:

Hi Mark,

I have the pictures with a "normal" A / D converter in the form of my DV camera and made so as DV-AVI saved. Partial with Scenalyzer and with Premiere.

The color values, which I have indicated, I have taken as RGB values of an image processing.
The phenomenon occurs, however, synonymous with "normal" videos, such as true bright red poppies, so it has to do nich directly with the VHS Project.

Could it be that you stumble on this problem?

http://www.slashcam.de/artikel/Basics/Der_Canopus_-_Unterschied.html

That should be no advertising for Canopus, and the article is synonymous not only that, but describes the problem quite well.

And what exactly is a "oderntlicher" DV converter?

Antwort von GhostDog:

Yes, exactly this problem. With bright images (such as a (overexposed), red poppy) are held in apertures brightness jumps.
And at the VHS overdubs, the whole video, because it constantly edited, synonymous changes continuously.
There is no way to change that? It is installed in the rest no Canopus codec, which is synonymous to me too expensive.

An "ordinary" converter is a device with which you can digitize analog video and generates output s.seinem one schnittfreundliches format, ie DV-AVI. It's just not a (cheap) TV card with something (possibly) is not necessarily high quality hardware finished.

These jumps in brightness Holger has already been described in his classic article - link is already up -. The results from the limit of codecs, such as the Microsoft DV codec the brightness of space 0. .255 on 16. .235. In fading light, this leads to cracks.

Remedy provides the use of DV codecs, which RESTRICTIONS not the brightness range. That might be the MainConcept DV codec, which is synonymous for installation in Virtualdub available. However, it can be synonymous to the Canopus DV codec, or the Sony DV codec (only the one in Vegas is available). From the Matrox DV codec hands off, which causes problems with half-images in some applications.

Otherwise there is on this issue under "Superweiß Super Black 'up some in the video meeting.

Thanks for the tip.
I installed the latest trial of the I MainCeoncept DV and tried Virtual Dub. When I import the videos created in Adobe Premiere and I s.TV try out the highest values are circumcised anyway. But not if I look at the original. There is no preference on the settings when I MainConcept set. Why is that?

Antwort von wolfgang:

2 possible errors:

1 du) could be the settings in the MC-codec have done wrong;

2) newer versions of Virtualdub can be synonymous without foreign DV codec DV importing avi files by accessing them appear on the Microsoft DV codec. If you are using a version so that it could be that to decode the MS-DV codec and it does not MC DV codec is used. And then of course you have the limitation of the brightness of the room.
