I stand just before a similar decision. I fluctuate between the dual core E6700 and E 6600. Although processing power in the HDV editing plays a major role, I will probably due to the better price / performance ratio for the E 6600 decision. A good friend who has more idea than me, advised me also. The differences in the calculation period is by far not correspond to the difference in price.

No, this is not so, Axel. Vegas 8 is synonymous for me with the 3.2 Ghz P4 and 1 GB of Ram only a straight sufficient preview of native HDV2 material - without great filter.
With the Q6600, however, you have much greater power reserves in the preview - not only that native HDV2 material easily runs with 25 fps, but it can be synonymous HDV several tracks in real time easily play. From 6750 I have not heard much good. The E6850 has much more reserves udn is already standard at 3.0. You can probably without great expense to 3.6 or more drive.
