Hi,
s.Fostex FR 2LE I can s.den XLR-XLR inputs (; plug in mic) or TRS (; Line).
can set whether the source of a line or a mic signal you have not, will probably recognize auto. Now I have but of RCA to XLR adapter plugs, so I had a line signal, which arrived there via XLR, is it then so that the recorder does not recognize it as a line in, but as a mic?

An automatic detection, I think is unlikely. Generally, the mic so synonymous the XLR inputs downstream of a preamplifier, which boosts the weak signal with up to 20 DB to line level so at 0.3-2 V.
Just try to pass, can be up to distorted or too low signals not much. Both inputs are high impedance.
