Hello, had a few days ago, a Canon XM2 extremely cheap at a bankruptcy business acquired (999 euros). Unfortunately, the zoom is defective, it works only on the rockers in carrying handle, the normal rocker moves nothing. Sometimes starts the telephoto zoom in the direction of then alone, as if he had noticed the attempts. Just a loose connection? Has anyone an idea what I could do? I believe that another business, the warranty customers ... if not, what could be a repair cost? I am a little confused ... How normal are quietly band sounds? So a kind of quiet Sirren if the band sometimes slightly touches a rotating part? I have not much experience camcorder, sorry. You can hear only with the ear directly to the camera ... If a very thin very light greenish-stained bands at the upper edge (maybe 3 pixels) normal? What can I even try, or what should I watch because I use the camera in very short term needs repair?

So if the camera is new and you still have warranty on it, then order from the warranty repair!

My XM2 has no running noises. If you listen to the synonymous, when the material on the PC is playing? Do you see the 3 - Pixel-stripes in the camcorder display on TV or on PC? With me you only see on the PC that the top line is not correct, which is not bad, because on TV without the outer edge is missing. The thing with the Zoom looks like a Wobbler, and should actually not very expensive,

Hello! thousand thanks for the responses and tips ...!!!! Also, the thin strip of green I see on the PC on the camera display is not. Seems to be "normal" to be. The sirrenden noises are easily synonymous with record, perhaps I'm hypersensitive, but synonymous, one hears only silence when the evening begins. I werds for the repair in any case with specify. Incidentally, have wedding pictures from the summer of 2003 on the enclosed 8MB card found ... but if I have 2 years warranty, it's history I actually no preference be given to the price. Is it better to contract directly to a shop to turn, or better than the dealer to execute? Thank you for the "sympathy ".... ;)

It could be an electronic or mechanical cause, perhaps an optical synonymous. That may be the only one expert say that the camcorder closer view (and possibly dismantled).
Only when the cause is known, one can quantify the cost of repairs. Previously, it would be lively telling.
