Remote control of the internal functions of a camcorder
Frage von Realsound: Dezember 2007
I use a Canon HV20 camcorder. Is there any software with the settings of the menu is usually in the recorder carries on a laptop can control? The drive functions are indeed of any better editing program controlled. What is it with the menu settings?

Well, the handling with the small screen or the Viewfinder is quite annoying. I thought of as the White Balance from the laptop to control or maybe the aperture to change. Is the thought process so far-fetched?
Antwort von Markus:
Your reasoning is not absurd, but the desire to be a very professional (= expensive) feature a simple way (= cheap) on a consumer camcorder to want to transfer.
I suspect that the (not only) with the HV20 is not possible.

In the U.S. forums a servive courses-patch, with which one comes into the middleware. This can make a small tool that you are writing implement. Not entirely safe, because you can pretty much zerschiessen. have not tried it yourself, can not communicate experience. thus, the man synonymous enable Rec.Funktion can. Hab'den unfortunately the link is not found quickly. But with slightly search found it. I remember when there was DV synonymous such patches.

.. and is thus synonymous then discards any warranty claims. For the Canon EOS 300 D courses was called "Hack-Russians", which some (existing but locked) firmware features of the larger models could unlock. Canon, according to my information always refused, for such a modified device to give guarantees; synonymous with the "normal" repair assumption, these parts have been rejected. The whole course in order to deter potential counterfeiters.

After long deliberation it became clear to me that we speak of different things. Presumably, I have yet wrong words. I want the settings (which by the HV20 offers joystick control) to the menus after external relocate. So, for example, the automatic exposure of daylight to artificial light switch or as a very simple example, date and time. That an in-depth control of the device from the manufacturer may not want to appear to me reasonable. My Yamaha digital audio mixer has a cozy mini display (on you, depending on the light so nothing can see) and this is a sg. Studio Manager with which you complete the channel on a laptop can get. That makes the work immensely. This is not something I thought.
