Infoseite // Rode NTG-1 overrides s.SonyPD-170

Frage von Rico_79:

Hello Slashcam community

I have recently started a Rode NTG-1 for my SonyPD 170 purchased.
First, I was absolutely thrilled to the sound of that we have under "normal circumstances" test (outdoor scenes without wind, normal voice recordings).
When I finally, the birthday party of a friend was filmed and the material have been evaluated, however, I just flat. All recordings where the DJ has set up are completely overridden. This is me with the standard mic PDs never happened before.
Now I have changed all possible settings (ATT, MIC, NO on / off, AGC on / off) but I can not find a satisfactory solution. With "ATT on" there are no pictures under "normal circumstances" is more possible, as far too low.
Sure, I could at each recording level manual setting, but that is some shooting just not possible.
Do you have a solution, with the I Rode NTG-1 can operate continuously, without the above mentioned problems to get sound?

Thanks in advance!

Ok, I've now viewed the following video (Although for the VideoMic, but the clipping problem is the same):

http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=oEQ-Zynv88k

The boy has the problem on the-10dB switch and a level lowering solved. The NTG-1, however, has only one high-pass filter and s.der I PD 170 may not reduce the level without AGC off. So what can you do?

Use your Headphones while filming?

Thank you for your reply. Then I will probably have a growth Headphones.
What Headphones you can recommend for me? Are there special Headphones for the video section or do a normal Headphones with good insulation against ambient noise. (eg http://www.amazon.de/Sennheiser-HD-215-Kopfh% C3% B6rer-geschl/dp/B0009OGHHM/ref = sr_1_40? ie = UTF8 & s = ce-de & qid = 1213112940 & sr = 8-40)? What do I need to purchase the look out for?

Hab noch rumprobiert next. In the menu, I just asked the wind to On. Now it seems there is something to be better. Is it OK if the wind is always on?

Schöner Mist. Final result: You need a new Micro, which is a separate attenuation switch, if you do not want levels of hand, or a cable adapter with an attenuator.
I have the PD-150, tonseitig almost identical to your PD-170.
Recently, I actually end up with a loud male voice choir happens: Quick set up, the two old Pearl condenser microphones at 0 dB, so full volume, let stand, and actually has the camera Aussteuerungsautomatik the level is not enough to settle down and distorted. On Micro-attenuation switch on 8dB turn and everything is Paletti.
Dein-Rode Microphone has a maximum data according to levels of 139 dB, can handle extremely high sound levels. The Microphone was therefore under no circumstances. But it is a (very good) condenser microphone with high output level, which overrides your microphone input with AGC.
Sure, you can with the ATT switch to -20 dB Chen lower, but then it's like so quiet that when you raise the volume in the calculator may be a lot of noise draufkriegst. And if you get the Baßfilter s.Micro used, although synonymous helps a bit, because a large proportion of the output voltage to the account of the bass goes, and you thereby the level synonymous get something down. But in important recordings would then of course the bass is synonymous gone.
So you like nothing else is left as a micro switch with damping.
Or question s.die other Schlaule here in the forum: Is there a ready sale as tangible attenuator plug adapter. I think a video in our club has sowas.
And with the habit Headphones incorporated. At least in the initial phase.
Enjoy Walter

Wow, thanks for the detailed answer!

Since I am in principle with the NTG-1 am very pleased, I would actually not play hergeben. So is an attenuator probably my only salvation ...

Hab mal ein bisschen gegoogelt and found the following:

http://www.thomann.de/de/neutrik_cdg_10_600.htm
http://www.thomann.de/de/cordial_cdg_10_200.htm

Only: which of the two is the right one? How do I decide that? If the-10dB ok? Success then so synonymous something quieter recordings?

The attenuator 200Ohm-stands that there is no phantom power transfer, so that's useless for me.
Thomann Did this Note in version 600Ohm forgotten or are there synonymous attenuators the phantom power on?

Antwort von Dr. Walter Gesierich:

The danger is great that this 600 ohm damper synonymous with one transformer works and your phantom voltage (because DC = 48 V is not transformed) are not arriving at the Micro.
Times I've searched for alternatives and to the SCAN 2 found, in which it explicitly says that they are capable phantom:

http://www.maximum-electronic.com/index.php?cat=5007095&product=235490

At least in the weak position-10dB should really get out what really good. Grüßle of Walter

Again many many thanks!
I will simply "good luck on a switchable, phantomfähiges attenuator buy and then use my experience to post.
