Although they are still quite expensive but I have taken the step now. With an OCZ 120GB in the iMac Late 2009 27 inch i5 installed.
I'm thrilled.
Write: 254.4 MB / s
Read: 263.0 MB / s
System Installation and FCS installed on the SSD. iTunes Library and iPhoto Library moved to external HDD. Worked well.
I thought it would be very helpful even create a thread here so we can exchange on the subject.
When I found a Doost Instructions which helped me a lot. (; See Appendix). For questions and suggestions I'm all ears.

The installation turned out, thanks to the guides on the web not too difficult. Some stumbling blocks I had to overcome yet.
Will the iMac open again this week because I was thinking to remove the DVD drive and instead to use the SATA interface for hard drive. Especially in video editing so play the access times and transfer rates a major role.
So now I'm going to build a 2 TB WD HDD instead of the Seagate 1TB. And the DVD drive I build and build from there, the SSD with OSX and a program.
I'm just waiting on the Delock SlimSata adapter for the connection.
Because I always burn with the external burner I will not miss the DVD SlotIn LW.
Tools needed:
Torx 8 & 10
Canned air

The most difficult part is the design / wiring of the screen.
