2. What is to be done / how it is in film and as with audio files to proceed?

Under generally means mastering the audio, "the final touches" to give - so the sound quality.
This includes the mixing of the tracks (including bus lanes Mixdown) => louder / softer, panel left / right to distribute 5.1 sound, apply filters + Effects (EQ, reverb ... etc.) ...
Programs => Audition, but you can already synonymous in the mixer of Premiere Pro very good results ...
