However, this is (very probably) the case. Then, however, you may find a good or bad news for you type:
(good) 'easy' or unscrew and change
(bad) the battery is fixed to the board in the housing and deeply 'buried'.

A friend of me had a Sonydie times with the same symptoms. When he was the Battery, however, are soldered. There is somewhere a beautiful photograph, the drawing of an explosion rather similar ;-)
EDIT: the Battrie in this case was completely dead and can not read, as indicated in the linked thread, recharge.

From the outside, there is definitely no possibilities to change a battery, synonymous in the manual, it mentions nothing at all. If a battery are soldered, then it should indeed external load. I try so times with the charger and let the cam 24 hours without a battery on it.

Can of course be that if really are soldered battery is about 5 years after their minds and abandoned this really a case for the (expensive) Service of Sonyist: - /. Embarrassed synonymous s.den Sony-mail support by colleagues, let's see what comes.

For those interested in this post I have here are the results!

That is in the instructions of my VX2100 nearly identical for this case is recommended. Beware, however, that the camera is turned off. The integrated battery is completely discharged then, incidentally, if the Camera about four months not being used.

Here is the reply from the Sony Service, of the above ideas but not a word the invitation, which indicated Camera:

An operator error is excluded, there is not synonymous menu that contains this setting.
Presumably there is a fault.
